Scanning containers made mandatory from 1st of September 2015, minister said.
“In the recent past, high slippage of ethanol, drugs and other high valued items had prevailed,” Karunanayake said.
“Hence, it has been decided that sophisticated scanning mechanisms will be placed at all entry points of Sri Lanka Customs,”
“The scanning of containers will be mandatory.”The government expects around 50 billion rupee income from this measure.
